Global Astronomy Month 2023

The month of April is a period when students from educational institutions are mostly free. The examinations are over and the institution remains closed for summer vacation. This is the best time for all to get engaged with astronomy, the observational science of the celestial objects and the lab is the open sky. The night sky facilitates us to peep back in time. Observational astronomy involves scanning the sky with telescopes; try identifying constellation using a green laser; photographing various objects in the sky; astronomy inspired art, musical concert and poetry; observing the meteor showers and much more.

Regional Science Centre and Planetarium Calicut associates with ‘Astronomy without Boarders’ for this global endeavour with a plethora of programs like voyage among the stars, Messier Marathon, Moonscape survey, Meteor shower observation, workshops on Astro Art and DIY Astronomy, Cosmic Concert, Asteroid Hunt and much more.

A mix of various programs ranging from Astro Arts to Observational Programs, this festival runs the whole month of April and features partners that creates a larger community of astronomy enthusiasts that span the globe.

Participation by registration only. All interested can register for the programme by visiting the education section of the planetarium.
